Peter enlisted February 15, 1864, at Sandy Creek, New York. He was mustered in a private in company L on the same day, to serve 3 years. He was discharged for disability on December 16, 1864, at Elmira, New York; listed as Peter Treehouse at that time. Not my ancestor; posting for a friends.

John A Schenk was my great-great-grandfather on my mother's side. After the Civil War he received $8.00 a month veteran's pension and tried for nearly 30 years to get a disability pension which would have given him $10.00 a month. When he died in 1896, his surviving spouse received $10.00
John was captured along with 2000 other Federal soldiers at Reams' Station Virginia 25 August 1864 and ended the war in prisoner camp in Salisbury North Carolina. Mustered out in NY State July 1865

John Condon enlisted August 8, 1862, and spent his first 18 months with the 4th NYHA in the defenses around Washington. From late April to mid-June 1864, he was on detached service with the 3rd New York Independent Battery, VI Corps, and participated in Grant's Overland Campaign--the Wilderness, Spotsylvania, North Anna and Cold Harbor. He rejoined his unit and fought during the siege of Petersburg. In mid-August, he was on detached service with Battery B 1st Rhode Island Light Artillery, II Corps, and fought in the second battle of Ream's Station on August 25, 1864. He was captured at Ream's Station and remained a POW at Salisbury Prison until late February, 1865, when he was finally paroled. He rejoined his unit and was mustered out in June 1865.
